I’m a freelance lighting cameraman based east of Exeter with good links to M5/A35/A30/A38 and just 10 minutes away from Exeter airport, and have shot across many remote regions including Antarctica for TV documentary. I consider myself to be a fast, efficient and knowledgable cameraman with a great report for people & a keen eye for a good shot, verging on cinematography because I care greatly about my craft. I would say that TV, and telling a good story is absolutely my passion. This is my website - simonvacherfilm.com.
I own all of my own camera equipment, and mainly shoot with my production-ready Sony FS7, and I’ve also had experience shooting with many other cameras including the PDW-700, PMW-200 and Canon XF305.
For ease of use by production companies, I’ve built an online list of equipment so they can view & pick what they need for production - the list is ever growing! - http://simonvacherfilm.com/equipment
South West, National, International (Worldwide including experience in Antarctica polar & maritime regions)
Much of my programme involvement has been sole camera operator/director in charge of sound, working closely with presenting talent in often extremely challenging environments. I’ve also had experience in studio shooting, but prefer being out & about. My previous credits include River Cottage (C4) and upcoming credits include Britain’s Treasure Islands (working title) due to be aired within the next few months, whereby myself and presenter Stewart McPherson travelled to all 14 of the UK Overseas Territories documenting the history, culture and natural history of these magnificent jewels in the crown of the United Kingdom.
Likes paragliding, surfing, downhill skiing, kayaking & kitesurfing/windsurfing & a good single malt.
